Pierre Barbé
Pierre Barbé, Managing Director, Totsa Total Oil Trading
Pierre Barbé was born in 1959; he graduated from Edhec in Lille, France in 1983. Pierre joined Total's Trading Division in 1983, where he worked as a crude operator in Paris. He became a crude trader in 1987, first at Total’s Tokyo trading office and then in the London office. Pierre was appointed Deputy Crude Trading Manager in 1992.

Pierre was promoted to Vice-President trading products in 1995 and transferred to Geneva in 2000, retaining his title as Vice-President of Product Trading. He has run Total’s trading and shipping division since October 2007, as President and Managing Director of Totsa Total Oil Trading SA in Geneva.


Jonathan KollekJonathan Kollek, Senior Vice-President for Sales, Trading and Logistics, TNK-BP
Jonathan Kollek has been in the oil business for over 20 years.

After graduating in economics and international relations, Jonathan started working for a major international trading company Marc Rich + Co A.G. (today Glencore) in a variety of different positions in London, Singapore and Moscow.

In 1993, Jonathan co-established his own trading company, which developed into a substantial international trading house with offices in 14 countries.

In 2002, Jonathan joined TNK (today TNK-BP) as First Deputy Head of Downstream. His current position is Senior Vice-President for Sales, Trading and Logistics and he is responsible for all sales of crude oil/petroleum products, transportation and rehandling, production planning and business development.

 

Daniel JaeggiDaniel Jaeggi, Vice-President and Group Head of Trading, Mercuria
Daniel is Group Vice-President and Head of Global Trading for Mercuria Energy Group. Together with Marco Dunand, he co-founded Mercuria Energy Trading in 2004, which in the space of six years has become one of the five largest energy trading companies worldwide. Prior to this, Mr Jaeggi directed the launch of Sempra Oil Trading in Europe, where he and Mr Dunand were responsible for trading operations in Europe and Asia.

From 1994 to 1999, Mr Jaeggi directed trading operations at Salomon Brothers in London, covering Europe and Asia. From 1987 to 1994, he traded crude oil and petrochemical feedstocks for Goldman Sachs’ J. Aron division in London.

Prior to that, Mr Jaeggi was at Cargill International in Switzerland, where he was responsible for trading naphtha and LPG.

Philip WitheyPhilip Withey, Partner, Bond Pearce
Philip is a Partner at Bond Pearce specialising in banking and finance. He has extensive experience advising both lenders and borrowers on a range of acquisition, asset, structured and project finance transactions. Philip advises on structuring, risk allocation and security/collateral issues.

Philip has over 13 years of experience in the derivatives market advising and documenting transactions and relationships in respect of a range of risks including commodity, interest rate, foreign exchange, financial market exposures, credit and counterparty exposures. He spent four years in the derivatives trading arm of a city-based European investment bank and a further six, and a half years in the structured finance team of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. Philip's past clients have included leading European and US investment banks and financial institutions, rating agencies and corporate trustees.

 

Felix CarabelloFelix Carabello, Managing Director, Energy and Metals, International, CME Group
Felix was appointed International Managing Director of Energy and Metals at futures and options exchange CME Group in February this year. He is responsible for executing the group’s international energy and metals business strategy, including increasing trading, managing client relationships and building product awareness. He is based in CME Group’s London office. 

Felix has held positions of increasing responsibility in the products and services division since joining the company in 1999, including serving most recently as director of alternative investment products. He was responsible for the development of CME Group alternative investment derivatives, such as weather, housing, energy and economic derivatives.

Felix held various trading and sales positions at stockbroker Credit Lyonnaise Rouse and Griffin Trading before joining CME Group. He has also worked on the New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) trading floor.

He attended Kemper Military College and Westminster College and served in the US Army Reserve, retiring with the rank of captain in 2006.

 

Mikhail PerfilovMikhail Perfilov, Business Development Director, Argus
Mikhail heads Argus’ business development activities in the former Soviet Union and has worked in energy and shipping markets for the last 16 years. Recently he has overseen the launch of Argus’ new Russian language reports, covering domestic crude markets, Russian and Ukrainian motor fuels and others. He has also covered energy markets as a reporter and editor. He studied at the Moscow Institute for Automobiles and Highways, and the Moscow State University of Education.

 

James Gooder James Gooder, Business Development Manager, Argus
James is responsible for business development in southern Europe and Brazil at Argus.

James has been with the company since 2004 performing several editorial roles, including editing European electricity and emissions market publications. From 2007-10, he was the Editor of the daily Argus Crude report, managing a global team of reporters and developing new crude oil price assessments.

Prior to joining Argus, James worked as a teacher, speechwriter and journalist. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and American literature from Manchester University and a Master’s degree in international journalism from City University, London.


Amrita SenAmrita Sen, Assistant Vice President, Barclays Capital
Amrita is an Assistant Vice-President in the Commodities Research team at Barclays Capital, where she provides commodities analysis and forecasts. Based in London, her analytical focus in the team lies in energy markets, specifically crude oil and products, coal and freight. She is involved in the team’s regular analysis of commodity investment flows and the growth of commodities as an asset class. Amrita joined Barclays Capital in 2007.

She holds a master’s degree in economics from Cambridge University, a BSc in economics from the University of Warwick and a BA degree in fine arts from the All India Fine Arts Association.

 

Jeffrey McGeeJeffrey McGee, Director of Tanker Research, SSY Research & Consultancy
Jeffrey joined UK shipbrokers Simpson, Spence and Young last year as its Director of Tanker Research, after serving four years as a Director at Drewry Shipping Consultants in London, where he was responsible for its tanker, dry bulk and risk management practices. Jeffrey was Director of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) at APL Logistics, a unit of logistics firm Neptune Orient Lines, prior to that. He led acquisition efforts in Asia-Pacific and Europe. 

Jeffery’s background includes 10 years of experience in capital markets, M&A, risk management and strategic planning at US car manufacturers General Motors and tobacco firm Philip Morris, ultimately serving as treasurer of Philip Morris’ financial services subsidiary. Jeffrey began his oil career at Caltex Petroleum, gaining experience in oil product trading, tanker chartering and refinery operations in Asia-Pacific. He holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a BSc in civil engineering and economics from Rice University.


David KirschDavid Kirsch, Director, Market Intelligence Service, PFC Energy
David directs the Market Intelligence Service (MIS), which provides a unique look at the interaction between oil market fundamentals, economics and geopolitics to analyse oil market dynamics and prices.  David has worked extensively on factors impacting global oil demand, as well as Opec strategies and Middle Eastern - particularly Saudi Arabian - political dynamics.

Before joining PFC Energy, David worked at the US Department of State, in the Bureau of Intelligence and Research.  His primary analytic responsibilities included global energy markets, Middle Eastern economy development and Mideast Gulf stability issues. From 1998 to 2002, he served as an Economics Attache at the US Embassy in Vienna, Austria, where he also served as the principal US government liaison with Opec.

David has BA degrees in economics and international affairs from American University, and a master’s degree in public policy from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. He also studied at the National University of Singapore. David is fluent in English and German.

Dr. Adnan Shihabeldin
Dr Adnan Shihab-Eldin, Adviser, Kuwait National Nuclear Energy Committee (KNNEC) and former Acting Secretary-General and Director of Research, OPEC
Dr Adnan Shihab-Eldin, former acting Secretary General and Director of Research of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec), is currently serving as senior adviser and consultant to a number of public and private international institutions, organisations and companies, including the Kuwait National Nuclear Energy Committee (KNNEC). He serves as a board member of Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences, and is a trustee of the American University. From March 1999 to August 2001, he served as Director of the Division for Africa, East Asia and the Pacific, Department of Technical Co-operation, at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria.

Dr Shihab-Eldin received a BSc degree in electrical engineering in 1965, an MSc degree in 1967, and a Doctorate (PhD) in nuclear engineering in 1970, all from the University of California at Berkeley, USA.

 

Dr. Peter CaddyDr Peter Caddy, Director and Head of Business Development, Argus
Peter is one of the world’s foremost experts on oil markets and oil market reporting. He is a director of Argus, and has worked there for 25 years in different parts of the world.

Peter has also developed the Argus assessments on Russian Urals, Siberian Light and Russian crude along the Friendship Pipeline. He oversees the Argus market reports including Argus Crude, Argus European Products, Argus International LPG, Argus US Products, Argus Asia-Pacific Products and Argus Asphalt. Before joining Argus in 1985, Peter worked at BP.


Blaise MorrisBlaise Morris, Broker, PVM
Blaise is an experienced and qualified oil broker based in London, who manages the Russian desk in Urals OTC swaps both for the Mediterranean and north west Europe.  His desk is responsible for obtaining markets for CFDs in the  traditionally opaque trading environment. The versatility of the desk allows dedicated reliable information and service to all counterparts efficiently, quickly and transparently.

In 2005, Blaise established the Urals desk at PVM Oil Associates, the leading global crude oil broker.  

Prior to that time, Blaise spent nine years at Amerex Petroleum UK as both a Brent Forties Oseberg Ekofisk 21-day broker and where he originally created the Urals desk in 2002 as a new innovative desk in an exciting and increasingly highly important area.
